This is an intricate and elaborately detailed Mysore School painting depicting ‘Ram Darbar’, or the coronation of Rama after his defeat of Ravana. Rama’s wife, Sita, is seated next to him. His brothers Bharat and Lakshman are standing in attendance with folded hands, while Shatrughan, his youngest brother is waving a flywhisk and Hanuman, the monkey-god, is touching Rama’s feet. At the bottom centre, Sugriva, the king of Vanaras (who are featured on the left) is making an offering of jewellery to Rama. Amongst the Vanaras, is the bear-like figure of Jambavantha, a great warrior and strategist. On the right are Ravana’s brother and his followers who switched to Rama's side during the war. On the top left are priests and saints who have come to bless Rama. The painting has some information printed in Kannada at the bottom. On the bottom left, it says 'In Memory of Thimmamma, Village Name: Puttasomanajalli'. On the right is the artist's name: K Venkataraman, Village Name: T Narasipura, dated 1972.
